Album Info:For students of the BML.... This series is a short overview of a walk on a clear sunny Maine summer moring from end of track on the Belfast waterfront to City Point covering the eastern 2.5 miles of railroad. The downtown yard is largely gone now. The turntable is gone and most of the rolling stock has left town. BML #52 will meet with the torch in just a few weeks. /DL

BML in town
Title:  BML in town
Description:  This scene, looking westbound, is looking thru what today is a town park adjacent to the public dock and boat landing. To the left of the track was a mill that processed feed for the local broiler industry until it went out of business about 1980. The last customer on this part of the line was Mathews Brothers just behind the camera, which took loads of lumber for their window & shash mill. Some where I have a VHS tape of a 70 tonner pushing a box car of lumber over this track taken about 1981. The MP here is about -0.3 beyond MP 0 which is (or was) in the yard just 'round the bend. /DL

MP 1 is just a couple'a hundred feet behind the camera. Today this is the boarding area for BML passenger operations and there is a small platform at this vantage point. C2013 the BML has a passenger platform here and loaded passengers. C2015 the rail was taken up and it was turned into a walking/bike trail by the City of Belfast. /DL

High Tide looking across the 'Passey'
Title:  High Tide looking across the 'Passey'
Description:  The most popular photo opp on the RR is shot from Kendall Road on the left looking up onto the bridge. There used to be a switch just across the bridge where oil tank cars were spotted for gravety discharge into tanks for Wade & Hurd. It is all grown up now, but not all that many years ago the roadside turn off & tanks were clearly visible. C2015 the tracks were taken up and this was tuned into a walking/bike bridge & trail. The City Point station is 1/4 mile or so ahead on the left. /DL
