Description:
Beautiful long shot of Duluth Missabe & Iron Range 2-8-8-4 #235, a Yellowstone type wheel configuration. The loco was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in February of 1943 (serial #64714, M4 class) and hauled the long drags of ore cars for nearly 19 years before being scrapped in 1962. Specs - 63" drivers, impressive 240 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 699,700 lb, impressive tractive effort of 140,000 lb. An unknown photographer took this impressive shot with both the engineer and fireman dwarfed at the cab window and door by the size of this lcoo..
