Description:
Great action shot of B&O 2-8-2 Mikado #4439 heading up a long drag of loaded coal cars. The loco was equally suited for passenger service as well.Late in its life, it was assigned the new number of BO #424 in 1957 but probably wasn't actually relabeld as it was retired and scrapped in December of 1957 in New Castle, PA. Specs - Q-4 class, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. No date, location or hotographer was listed for the photo so arbitrary onew were used.
