| Lake Superior & Ishpeming 8523 was built in July 1964, with a capacity of 178,200 pounds. Despite the PELLET LOADING ONLY lettering, during the 1970's all of the cars in the LS&I 8500-8599 were used by the Illinois Central Gulf for sand and gravel service into New Orleans. These cars were photographed at the ICG's Poydras Yard. |
