Here is page one of an eight-page article by A.C. Kalmbach entitled "Penn-Reading Seashore." It was published originally in the August 1941 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 19. Top Photo, Partial Caption: "The 4-4-2 type of locomotive was named Atlantic because first designed for this race track." Shown here is Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines engine #6087, an E-6S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata by the Pennsylvania Railroad as number "1351" during June of 1914, transferred to the PRSL and renumbered "6087" in January of 1937, and retired in 1950 after 36 years of faithful service. Depicted in the lower photo is the Pennsylvania Railroad's Passenger Ferry Terminal in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. |
