Well, I went to the Amtrak station as I often do to watch The Heartland Flyer come in. It arrived on time, about 8:50. Problem was, it arrived on the passing siding north of the station. Apparently, the dispatcher had switched it to there even though the nearest freight was more than a half hour away, in Purcell! Well, they made the Flyer wait not only for this train, but the next one that followed it. By the time it finally reached the station, it was about an hour late. To BNSF's credit, there had been a minor derailment that blocked the line the previous weekend, so they had a lot of freight trains to get through in the aftermath. Still, I am sure the passengers were not happy! |
