Southern Pacific SD40T-2 snoot 8321 and SD45s 7550, 7517, 8978 and 7546 were at the south end of the Norfolk Southern's OLIVER YARD in New Orleans. They had just delivered APL stack train AXNOT, and were about to return light to the the SP's AVONDALE YARD. The track in the foreground was a CSX line from their GENTILLY YARD to this Mississippi River. It had been built in 1954 by the Louisville & Nashville and was subsequently acquired by the Norfolk Southern. |
