Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Manasquan, New Jersey, in July of 1955. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3747, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1920 and retired in November of 1957 after 37 years of faithful service. In addition to the signals, note the "whistle" sign with a five crossings-in-a-row indicator. ("VDF"; #3 of 7) |
