Here is page nine of a 22-page booklet published by the Pennsylvania Railroad entitled "Modern Power For Today's Trains: 1949." It was issued originally during July of 1949. Depicted here (R to L) is PRR engine #9456 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are FF-20's built by Fairbanks-Morse and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #9456 was constructed in November of 1947 and retired in January of 1963 after just 16 years of revenue service. |
