Hawaiian Railway 302’s cab
This is a shot of the interior/cab of Hawaiian Railway 302 (ex USN 65-00302). I had the unique opportunity to ride in the cab of this piece of history, as it has been in service since November of 1944! This locomotive originally served the US Navy on their mainline that stretched all the way to Pearl Harbor, and its main task was to haul ammunition for them. Eventually, however, it was retired and acquired by the HRHS, where it was restored back to working condition and serves now on the rails once again! The trip was fun, there were lots of cool things to see, and I even got to blow for a crossing at one point!
