Built by the Budd Company on August 23, 1951, this was a newer version of the original doodlebug concept in providing light passenger service in an economical way to branch lines. LV RDC1 #40 was one of only two (LV #41 the other) that Lehigh Valley tried out. It spent its years on the low capacity passenger service on the Hazelton area branch lines. After only 11 years, LV #40 was sold to the Reading in 1962, then to Septa and today is preserved at the RR Museum of Pennsylvania. No photographer was listed for the phot0. |
